Apripista del suo decimo album 'August Parker', è la prima musica pubblicata dal 2017. grazie alla voce di Goddaer, immediatamente riconoscibile, la canzone suona familiare, anche se il ritmo africano, la melodica malinconica e la chitarra di Gianni Marzo (Isbells, Marble Sounds) danno idea di un vento nuovo e fresco. 'Light', come il resto dell'album, è stato registrato in Immersive Sound, un formato pionieristico in cui l'ascoltatore sperimenta la musica in 3D.
Ozark Henry (the moniker of Piet Goddaer) is a Belgian born artist, writer, composer, producer and pioneer. Since David Bowie praised his debut album in 1996 as one of his favourites, he has successfully produced music ranging from avant-garde, electronica to alternative pop and classical music. He collaborated with legendary artists as, Jah Wobble, Jackie Liebezeit, Youth, Martina Topley Bird, Toots Thielemans and Ryuichi Sakamoto, and renowned orchestras as the Metropole Orkest and the National Orchestra of Belgium.
Ozark Henry is an artist with synaesthesia and his universe is defined by a blending of craft with experiment, audio with visual, and heritage with technology. TEDx San Francisco and Google New York invited him to talk about his ground-breaking work in immersive sound, and AES and NYU invited him to perform on the holodeck with his immersive performance ‘August Parker (Maps To The Stars)’.
Piet Goddaer got the inspiration for Light close to home. “I knew someone who was born deaf and dumb, but around the age of 30 got the chance to still be able to hear via an implant. It was presented to him as something wonderful, but after a week of trying it, he thought it was terrible and wanted his old life back. It is, in short, about ending up in a situation that others believe represents progress. When a blind person is given the promise of being able to see, it is something to look forward to, but at the same time there is the realization that you then also have to say goodbye to everything you have considered familiar up to that point.”

All artwork to accompany the new album, which reads like a crash course in kintsugi, was created by young filmmaker Lukas Desmet. Kintsugi: The Japanese art of gluing shards with a dash of gold symbolizes the beauty of imperfection. Nothing is irreparable. On the contrary, cracks and scars are a sign of resilience. A beautiful metaphor for life. Embrace your imperfections and let go of the drive for perfection.

Ozark Henry has built up one of the most impressive oeuvres in Belgian pop music. Birthmarks (2001) and The Sailor Not The Sea (2004) received double platinum awards, The Soft Machine (2006), Hvelreki (2010) and Stay Gold (2014) went platinum, This Last Warm Solitude (1998) and Paramount (2015) went gold. Moreover, the international hit “I'm Your Sacrifice” reached platinum in Italy. The 10th album August Parker will be released on Oct. 10 via [PIAS] Recordings. August Parker was written, composed and produced by Piet Goddaer.
