One of the UK’s most exciting rising stars and dance-pop icon on the rise Rose Gray has shared her brand new single ‘Afraid Of Nothing’, with French superstar DJ Kungs. The follow up to Rose’s standalone single ‘Happiness’, and her EP Higher than the Sun - released earlier this year - which featured Clara’s Hottest Record in the World 'Ecstasy’ as well as previous singles ‘Sun Comes Up’, ‘Promise Me’ and FIFA 2023 soundtrack song ‘Prettier Than You’, ‘Afraid Of Nothing’ continues Rose’s upward streak creating some of the UK’s best dance-pop in recent memory.

Rose has had the huge dance banger ‘Afraid Of Nothing’ in the locker for a while, but something didn’t quite feel right. On a writing trip to Paris, which included a session with Kungs, something instantly clicked. Explains Rose: “I was on a writing trip in Paris and was feeling really anxious about everything. I feel as creatives we all live in fear, fear of not being good enough or fear that what we have to say isn’t important. I got into a session with Kungs, and we finished Afraid of Nothing to give us something to dance through the fear, and help embrace it as just another part of being human. I'm in love with this record.”

Kungs adds, “I've been a fan of Rose's work for a long time. I love her energy and how she shares her emotions. There's always this strong and romantic poetic touch that I love in her songs. It was a pleasure for me to add my sounds to her world.”

The track is shared today with a video directed by actor/director Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Scrapper, A24’s upcoming The Iron Claw). Featuring Rose as a chaotic runaway bride, who sprints away from the altar through the streets of Hackney, the video is both about the thrill of hedonism, and the importance of finding community.

Speaking about the video, Harris Dickinson says, “It was really fun to bring together actors that each offer something different to the group. We workshopped to find the dynamics and type of movement for everyone. We tried to offset a typically bleak setting with larger than life scenarios and absurdist movement. The video became about freedom and acceptance. Being able to totally let yourself go and find fearlessness and I think the song releases that inside of you.”

Rose Gray made a huge splash with her debut mixtape, which included Clara Amfo’s BBC Radio 1 Tune of The Week ‘Save Your Tears’, as well as Rose’s cover of Saint Etienne’s ‘Nothing Can Stop Us’, and her breakout single ‘Same Cloud’. Drawing attention from the likes of NME, i-D, DIY, Billboard, Wonderland, and Notion, as well as Clara and Annie Mac at BBC Radio 1, and BBC Introducing was a true statement of intent from a big new voice in British pop. Since then, Rose has released Synchronicity, which won more attention from The Face, The FADER, The Guardian and more.

Born and raised in East London, the city has always been the singer-songwriter’s playground: warehouse parties in secret locations, the suspended reality of the late-night underground and the first glimpse of sunrise in the small hours are woven into the fabric of Rose Gray’s sound. Originally drawn to big popstars with big voices such as Christina Aguilera, Rose has now created her own sonic landscape - a hedonistic, intoxicating blend of house, pop and dance that feels entirely unique, and totally irresistible. Keep your eyes peeled for more from Rose this year.
