Eppure il trio irlandese Kingfishr è solo all’inizio. Dopo aver già raggiunto questi traguardi, la loro ascesa è destinata a crescere ulteriormente con l’annuncio dell’attesissimo album di debutto Halcyon, in uscita il 22 agosto. Ad accompagnare l'annuncio, condividono oggi, 23 maggio, il nuovo singolo "Diamonds & Roses" e i dettagli del tour da headliner in UK ed Europa, che si concluderà con una data a Londra all’O2 Forum Kentish Town e che toccherà anche l'Italia con un'imperdibile data il 10 novembre al Circolo Magnolia di Milano, a cura di Comcerto.

Halcyon è un album che suona subito come un “best of”. Racconta il percorso dei Kingfishr fino a oggi, dai primi brani che li hanno fatti emergere come Flowers-Fire e Eyes Don’t Lie, fino ai nuovi punti salienti come Killeagh, Gloria e Man On The Moon.
Ma c’è anche tanto materiale inedito tutto da scoprire, con tracce come 21, Next To Me, Someday e Schooldays. Le versioni in CD e digitale dell’album includono inoltre due tracce bonus: Ways To Change e Shadow. È una dichiarazione d’intenti forte e chiara da parte di una band capace di trovare un punto d’incontro tra le dinamiche dell’indie-rock contemporaneo e l’anima delle proprie radici irlandesi tradizionali.
La band ha così commentato il disco: "Halcyon is the culmination of three years’ work, though most of the time it hasn’t felt like it. We grew up in different parts of rural Ireland though the band itself was born on a dairy farm in Tipperary. The songs were written in a small kitchen where generations of farmers became singers and storytellers when the work was done. The name ‘Halcyon’ is a nod to the landscape and heritage that has moulded our music, even though the songs don’t all come from a happy or peaceful place. We’re so proud of all of this. Thank you for being a part of it. On and up!”.
I Kingfishr eccellono nello scrivere musica che fonde esperienze personali con emozioni universali; questi sentimenti emergono in tutta la loro forza straziante nel nuovo singolo "Diamonds & Roses". Il baritono imponente e intenso di Eddie Keogh, unito all’atmosfera evocativa creata dai suoi compagni di band Eoghan “McGoo” McGrath ed Eoin “Fitz” Fitzgibbon, dà vita a un brano in cui nostalgia, cambiamento e romanticismo si intrecciano. La canzone è stata scritta dai Kingfishr insieme a Jim Eliot e Billy Joel, e prodotta da David Anthony Curley.
Eddie ha aggiunto sul brano: "Diamonds & Roses is about how much things change. It’s about the death of the status quo and the price we all pay for that. It’s about the terror of existence, but in spite of that it’s about the good that shines through.”.
