FAR CASPIAN TORNA CON IL BRANO “HERE IS NOW” E L’ALBUM “AUTOFICTION”

Far Caspian—the project of Irish musician Joel Johnston—returns with his brand new album Autofiction, out now via Tiny Library Records. Entirely self-recorded, produced, and mixed in his Leeds-based studio, the LP showcases Johnston’s multi-instrumental talent and creative independence.

The album features previously released singles including the hook-laden title track, the shimmering “An Outstretched Hand / Rain From Here To Kerry,” and the sun-drenched “First Day”—each receiving critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Consequence, The Line of Best Fit, DORK, and more.

After the release of his 2023 LP The Last Remaining Light, Johnston built his own recording studio and began producing for other UK artists, including Green Gardens and Ellur. That shift reignited his passion for Far Caspian, prompting him to revisit his own demos—not as a songwriter, but as a producer. The result is an album born from resilience and a revitalised sense of purpose.

With influences like Broken Social Scene and Japan’s Supercar, Autofiction delivers a textured, melodic take on neo-shoegaze, underscored by themes of mental health, recovery, and the strength of loving support. The lyrics are Johnston’s most diaristic and unfiltered to date—rooted in self-forgiveness and written with one mantra in mind: “I’m enjoying this right now and therefore it’s good enough.”

Far Caspian will bring Autofiction to life on stage this autumn with a headline tour. European dates include Dublin’s Grand Social and London’s Scala.

Autofiction is a testament to creative renewal—an album that finds strength in vulnerability and joy in the act of making music once again.
