Ziyad Al-Samman unleashes his long-awaited debut EP ‘Pleasure Complex’ alongside focus track 'Ya Habibi' and reaches all corners of indie, disco and psychedelic pop in the process. The upcoming 5-track EP showcases Ziyad’s boundless creativity, which extends to his unique visuals and outstanding live performances.

Backed by synthesisers that bounce, jump, contort and make you dance, Pleasure Complex is a pure concentration of joy and creativity, with a piercing esoteric melancholy lurking in the background. Lose yourself in songs that explore love, friendship and identity, and fly into a less dreary and more exhilarating version of everyday life.

“The songs came together out of necessity, a deep desire and impulse to create something immediate, direct and joyful. Trying to understand my ever-evolving and complex relationship with love and pleasure. A warped yet playful mirror image of human emotions, relationships and inspirations I’ve been soaking” - Ziyad Al-Samman

Half-Syrian, half-British Ziyad's journey into music began at the age of 13 when he first picked up a guitar, but one of his earliest musical memories is singing along to the iconic Amr Diab track, Habibi Ya Nour El Ain during a family car trip in Jordan. This experience inspired the standout single Ya Habibi, meaning “my love,” which fuses the high-energy vibes of MGMT and Gorillaz, co-produced by French multi-instrumentalist Jules Apollinaire.

“Ya Habibi wrote itself pretty instantly with Jules, it just exploded! We tapped into some childlike innocence and energy. We were just lucky to tap into that energy and I’m so grateful to have this song in my arsenal. It’s so infectious and special to me and I hope others will feel that.” - Ziyad Al-Samman

From the disco-infused rhythms of Bang to the introspective melancholy of This Love and My Sweet, Ziyad’s Pleasure Complex explores themes of love, friendship, and identity. The EP's closing track, Space, takes listeners on a cosmic journey, influenced by the dramatic soundscapes of French band Air.

Previous releases from Ziyad have led to acclaim from the likes of DIY, The Times and So Young Magazine. And achieved radio play on 6Music and Amazing Radio. His exuberant live performances have led to support slots with Hinds, Findlay, TTRRUUCCES, Yumi & The Weather and Noon Garden, and he’s performed at festivals including Green Man Festival, Live At Leeds, Deershed and Left of the Dial.
