Con UNIVERSAL, MaxNeri presenta il suo progetto più ampio e internazionale: un album elettronico concepito come un vero atlante sonoro, in cui il percorso musicale diventa viaggio, racconto e contaminazione.
15 rotte che uniscono il Mediterraneo al mondo: “UNIVERSAL” di MaxNeri trasforma il dancefloor in un racconto corale e multilingue.
Dal portoghese al dialetto salentino, dal sitar ai fiati bandistici, dall’afro house alla melodic techno: il DJ e producer italiano e salentino di adozione, MaxNeri, presenta un album che attraversa Mediterraneo, Brasile, Francia, deserto e mare, trasformando la musica elettronica in un atlante culturale che torna a dialogare con luoghi, idiomi e immaginari.
Le lingue diventano parte integrante dell’identità del progetto: italiano, inglese, francese, portoghese, spagnolo, dialetto salentino e richiami partenopei convivono in un’unica architettura musicale. Le voci di Neuma, Nasha, Margot, Leonor ed Élen Virel portano all’album colori, interpretazioni e sensibilità diverse.
La produzione, che lavora su una contrapposizione costante, vede da una parte l’elettronica, i synth analogici e i groove da club; dall’altra, l’uso di strumenti reali — sitar, oboe, sax, flauto, clarinetto, fisarmonica e fiati bandistici —, infondendo al disco un respiro acustico e una fisicità che richiamano la stagione aurea dell’elettronica europea, quando la cura per il suono analogico era il presupposto necessario di ogni incursione sintetica.

La traiettoria di MaxNeri aiuta a capire la portata del progetto. La sua formazione parte dalla teoria musicale e dal sassofono classico e jazz, studiati fin dall’infanzia, e si intreccia presto con l’elettronica, le tastiere, i sequencer, i suoni sintetici e le strutture dance. A metà degli anni Novanta vive da vicino la cultura club italiana, lavorando come DJ freelance tra Piemonte e Lombardia e avvicinandosi all’ambiente produttivo legato a diverse etichette dream-progressive.
Da quella stagione eredita una concezione precisa della musica elettronica: non solo BPM, ma melodia; non solo pista, ma intensità emotiva; non solo produzione, ma riconoscibilità sonora. Negli anni il suo linguaggio attraversa dance, electropop, synthpop, synthwave, dream progressive, melodic techno, afro house, nu-disco, EDM e contaminazioni world, mantenendo una direzione costante: unire tradizione e futuro, club e racconto, strumenti reali e suoni sintetici.

With UNIVERSAL, MaxNeri presents his most extensive and international project yet: an electronic album conceived as a true sonic atlas, where the dancefloor becomes a journey, a narrative, and a fusion.
15 routes connecting the Mediterranean to the world: MaxNeri's "UNIVERSAL" transforms the dancefloor into a choral and multilingual tale.
From Portuguese to the Salento dialect, from sitar to band wind instruments, from Afro house to melodic techno: Italian-born, Salento-based DJ and producer MaxNeri presents an album that traverses the Mediterranean, Brazil, France, the desert, and the dancefloor, transforming electronic music into a cultural atlas that once again engages with places, idioms, and imagery.
Languages ​​become an integral part of the project's identity: Italian, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Salento dialect, and Neapolitan influences coexist in a single musical architecture. The voices of Neuma, Nasha, Margot, Leonor, and Élen Virel bring diverse colors, interpretations, and sensibilities to the album.
The production, which works on a constant juxtaposition, sees electronica, analog synths, and club grooves on one side; On the other, the use of real instruments—sitar, oboe, saxophone, flute, clarinet, accordion, and band wind instruments—infuses the album with an acoustic breadth and a physicality that recall the golden age of European electronic music, when a focus on analog sound was a necessary prerequisite for any synthetic foray.
Each track follows a different path: from the Brazilian warmth of Pulso Dourado to the emotional dawn of Before the Sunrise, from the marine freedom of Non torno più to the Mediterranean myth of Cor'e'Mar, from the rebellious Salento celebration of Mo' sona la festa to the hypnotic and cinematic closing of To the Desert.

MaxNeri's trajectory helps us understand the scope of the project. His training began with music theory and classical and jazz saxophone, which he studied since childhood, and soon intertwined with electronics, keyboards, sequencers, synthetic sounds, and dance structures. In the mid-1990s, he experienced Italian club culture firsthand, working as a freelance DJ between Piedmont and Lombardy and becoming involved in the production environment of various dream-progressive labels.
From that period, he inherited a precise conception of electronic music: not just BPM, but melody; not just dancefloor, but emotional intensity; not just production, but sonic recognizability.
