Cigarettes After Sex released their new double single "Anna Karenina" via Partisan Records today. The band returns with two tracks that showcase both their future and their past and is their first release since their acclaimed 2024 album X's. The B-side single, “Anna Karenina,” is a quintessential Cigs track; sensual, slow-burning, and emotionally oversized, with lyrics so confessional they verge on too much. Its inclusion of spoken word verses adds a striking new dimension to Greg Gonzalez’s world, expanding the band’s intimate palette. The chorus (“I cried at the end of Anna Karenina, when she threw herself under the train”) might be the most Cigarettes After Sex lyric written to-date. The A-side is a long-rumored fan favorite finally seeing release: a gorgeously faithful cover of The Doors’ “The Crystal Ship,” recast in the band’s signature haze. Jim Morrison’s romantic fatalism never sounded more at home.

That album is currently the 143rd most-streamed album ever on Spotify. Cigarettes After Sex’s 2019 album, Cry,is certified gold in the US, France and Poland. The band also currently has over 30 million monthly Spotify listeners, which places them inside the top 200 most-listened-to artists in the world on the platform.
Cigarettes After Sex sold upwards of 750k tickets around the globe during their X's tour, including sold out shows at Madison Square Garden, the O2 Arena, and arenas across Asia.
