Award winning Irish singer Moncrieff shares epic new track
'How It Ends'

Irish sensation Moncrieff shares his latest single, ‘How It Ends’. An epic, emotional skyscraper of a track, it finds him addressing, and finally letting go of a heartache that has clung to him for years and informed much the music that has catapulted the singer to international acclaim.

Reflecting on the track Moncrieff shares “'How It Ends' is the final goodbye to that person I was with, and a goodbye to myself as well.”  Moncrieff continues to explain “It’s about accepting that yes, you may never fully get over that person, that sometimes you cross paths with someone who will have an effect on you that will last for the rest of your life and a part of your heart will always be linked to them, but that’s okay. It’s out of your hands. You just have to accept that and move on and love somebody else.”

For Moncrieff, the subject of the song has a particular resonance, as he met his former partner as a teenager, at a point when he tragically lost both his older sister and brother in the space of just two years. Behind the songwriting process Moncrieff shares “It was my first love. We met a year after my sister passed away when I was 17 and then six months into our relationship my brother passed away. So, this person was not only my first love, but that whole experience brought us even closer together. It reinforced this narrative that they were the only person for me, because she held me up and kept me together at times where I didn’t feel like living anymore.”

Moncrieff’s first release for Warner Music Central Europe, 'How It Ends' marks the start of a new chapter for the Irish musician following the enormous success of his early singles and EPs, with tracks such as ‘Love Somebody’ and ‘Warm’ racking up nearly 50 million streams to date and the latter bagging him the prestigious RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Song of the Year in 2023.

While the emotionally raw soul baring songs that won Moncrieff early admirers, receiving praise from musical icons such as Elton John and late DJ/producer Avicii among others, soul baring lyrics are still very much at the centre of his writing. How It Ends displays a much broader sense of sonic adventurism and paints a fuller picture of him as an artist.

Once a backing singer for one of the best-selling artists of all time Adele, Moncrieff now finds himself putting out singles where his fans already know the words before release day, has gone on to tour, release EPs and continues his upwards trajectory.
